Question: Ben, what are your biggest opportunities to sustain a robust, skilled workforce at Prairie Electric?

 

"We must invest right now in the employees we have currently, but also in the generation coming up. The workforce of tomorrow is in school right now, if we want to have a robust workforce in the future we must support their learning and growth today. We must build both interest and the infrastructure to empower the next generation to want to work in manufacturing."

 

Question: What is the most important shift you expect in our industry over the next year, and how are you preparing for it?

 

"From what I can see today it looks like the demand for the products we build is going to increase. We are preparing for the demand by being students of Manufacturing. We feed our curiosity about how systems work, how people work within systems, how we focus our efforts to break constraints within our systems. We focus our attention on how we work, we ask: how can we build a system that will compete with companies all over the world and win."

 

Question: What fuels your passion for developing your team in a way that elevates the customer experience?

"We love manufacturing. We love manufacturing in the United States. We love manufacturing in Washington State. This brings a unique set of challenges to our business. If we want to be successful we must have a workforce that is ready and able, we must have systems that allow us to manufacture at a profit, we must support our customers to enable them to be successful in their work."
