Question: Trish, from your perspective at SEH America and on the High‑Tech Council, what are the biggest opportunities to sustain a robust, skilled workforce in our region’s semiconductor and advanced‑manufacturing sector?

"The biggest opportunity is strengthening the early talent pipeline, helping students and career‑transitioning adults see a clear path into high‑tech manufacturing. At SEH America, we see how powerful it is when people understand the stability, growth, and purpose behind semiconductor work. Expanding career‑connected learning, deepening partnerships with local schools, and supporting programs that build foundational technical skills all help ensure we have a workforce that’s ready for the next generation of manufacturing. As both an SEH employee and HTC officer, I see alignment across industry and education as the most impactful place to invest."

 

Question: What industry shift do you expect to have the greatest impact over the next year, and how are you preparing for it at SEH America and through HTC?

 

"The biggest shift ahead is the growing need for cross‑functional technical skills as automation and data systems evolve. After 35 years at SEH America, I’ve seen our industry become more integrated, with operators, technicians, engineers, and support teams all needing stronger digital fluency and problem‑solving.

 

What matters now is how this affects the regional talent pipeline. Through HTC, SEH America works with partners to align curriculum, expand hands‑on learning, and support people entering or re‑entering the workforce. This shift is both technical and cultural, and HTC helps build confidence, adaptability, and long‑term career pathways across the region."

 

Question: What fuels your passion for serving on the Southwest Washington High Tech Council, and in the role of Secretary and Treasurer? ​

"What fuels my passion for serving on the Southwest Washington High Tech Council is the opportunity to strengthen the education to industry connection in our region. During my time at SEH America, one of the most meaningful experiences was working with our high school internship program. It gave me a close look at students’ dreams, ambitions, and the uncertainty they sometimes feel when they think about high tech careers.

Helping them see what’s possible…showing them that they can succeed in this field, is something I truly enjoy. That experience is a big part of why I’m so committed to partnering with educators and supporting programs that build confidence, skills, and real pathways into stable, meaningful careers.

In my role as Secretary and Treasurer, I’m able to help shape meeting agendas and bring in guests who align with this mission. And it’s genuinely a pleasure for me to cut annual donation checks...not just because they support education and training, but because they directly strengthen our community. Each check represents real investment in students, families, and the future workforce of Southwest Washington.

HTC gives us a platform to align industry and education in a way that opens doors for students and strengthens our regional talent pipeline. Being part of that work is deeply meaningful to me."
