Question: Trish, you have been a part of the Council for two decades, what are the biggest opportunities to sustain a robust, skilled workforce in our region’s semiconductor and advanced‑manufacturing sector?

"The biggest opportunity is strengthening the early talent pipeline, helping students and career‑transitioning adults see a clear path into high‑tech manufacturing. At SEH America, we see how powerful it is when people understand the stability, growth, and purpose behind semiconductor work. Expanding career‑connected learning, deepening partnerships with local schools, and supporting programs that build foundational technical skills all help ensure we have a workforce that’s ready for the next generation of manufacturing. As both an SEH employee and HTC officer, I see alignment across industry and education as the most impactful place to invest."

 

Question: What industry shift do you expect to have the greatest impact over the next year, and how are you preparing for it at SEH America and through HTC?

 

"The biggest shift ahead is the growing need for cross functional technical skills as automation and data systems evolve. After decades at SEH America, I’ve watched our industry become more integrated, with operators, technicians, and engineers all needing stronger digital literacy and problem solving skills.

Through HTC, SEH America works with regional partners to help educators understand modern manufacturing needs and expand hands on learning that builds confidence and adaptability. This shift is both technical and cultural, and HTC gives us a platform to support people as they grow into stable, meaningful career pathways."

 

Question: What fuels your passion for serving on the Southwest Washington High Tech Council, and in the role of Secretary and Treasurer?

"My passion for HTC comes from strengthening the education–industry connection in our region. Working with SEH America’s high‑school internship program showed me students’ hopes, uncertainties, and how powerful it is when they realize they can succeed in high tech.

 

As Secretary and Treasurer, I help shape agendas, bring in partners, and support programs that build confidence and real career pathways. It’s also a pleasure to cut our annual donation checks to schools and training programs that invest in students and families. HTC creates the alignment that opens doors and strengthens our regional talent pipeline."
